Part One of the cache was completed in July of 2005. I couldn’t finish it that day because the tide was too high (about 2 feet). I had to wait until the tide and my schedule were compatible. With a tide of -.85 feet, today was that day.

If you compare this picture with the one taken in 2005, you can see that the water level is much lower. In fact, I was able to stay on dry land for the entire trip.

Once again, I was assaulted by some over-territorial seagulls.

The view from inside the cave. Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture of perhaps the coolest part of this adventure. Just as I entered the cave, I heard a noise from the far side. I had startled a seal (do seals geocache?). As I watched, it made a quick but clumsy retreat out the west entrance.

Finally, after almost two years, I uncover the Treasure of Black Beard’s Grotto!
